Mumbai attacks, 26/11, really provoked my feelings against terrorism & I started thinking what could be done to fight terrorism other than & above all unity of all Indians. First time in my life, I stuck to television without a break almost for three days & kept seeing the bravery and courage of our Indian soldiers & also how our media persons were collecting information for us,, really wonderful job. Thanx to media for their efforts. Let me come to the point now :-

Why Blame Media ?

After the Mumbai attacks, when I found some people, involving some muddled politicians and analysts, discussing on the role of media in Mumbai attacks, my feelings provoked. I was having shame on them, when these politicians would stop their blame-game esp. against media. They would have never ever missed a chance for blaming them. Hey, politicians why don't you focus on the real issues and discuss them in spite of cursing the media.

We people watched news channels even without a break for almost three days for information on what happened in Mumbai. It is now being said that the media compromised the strategies the commandos were following to eliminate the terrorists. What is being cited over & over again as an example of this is the television coverage of commandos descending from a helicopter on to the roof of Nariman House. Had this not been shown live ? It is now being said that the media coverage of this damaged the commandos stealthy operation because someone after watching the television told the terrorists in Nariman House that commandos were landing on the roof. What the hell! Stealthy Operation. The noise an army helicopter make can be well imagined by everyone, it's noise fetches us outside of our houses esp. children when these fly hundred of feets overhead, now you can imagine the horrific scene it would have made when it came down to rooftop height. So, let me know in what way it was stealthy operation but in reality it was very very noisy assault. As far as terrorists are concerned, they were very well trained as we are told and they would have, I think, easily conclude that an operation involving helicopter borne troops is going on nearby most likely at Nariman House itself.

Don't forget that they were media persons who told us of the incredible bravery & courage of our army, police officers, constables etc. & those who gave up their lives doing their duty. It was the media that pointed out the pathetic condition of some of the equipments the police had to use- third class rifles & lathis against AK-47 of terrorists.

Now, we are hearing that some guidelines are being framed for the media.....Oops.. U stupids deploy your attention towards those guidelines which could prevent such future attacks,, don't blame our media.. I accept that our media is not very pure but they are professionals, to make money, to generate their viewers they have to add some self made masala because it is also a public demand..

Whatever,, We should understand the advantage of having media that, with all their defects, are credible..
